Description

Little Caesars Arena is a multi-purpose arena in Midtown Detroit. Construction began on April 24, 2015, following a formal groundbreaking ceremony on September 25, 2014. Opened on September 5, 2017, the arena, which cost $862.9 million to construct, replaced Joe Louis Arena and The Palace of Auburn Hills as the homes of the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association (NBA), respectively.

The arena features a unique, clear plastic roofed concourse connecting it to offices and shops surrounding it. It was designed to be the flagship of a new $2.1 billion 650,000-square-foot (60,000 m2) sports and entertainment district, The District Detroit, with mixed-use neighborhoods with new residential and retail outlets located around the Cass Corridor, Ford Field and Comerica Park.

DMC Consultants, Inc. was retained by the Construction Manager Barton Malow/Hunt a JV in association with White Construction to provide Environmental Remediation Services for buildings 13 & 20.

These buildings were vacant for many years and had structural issues. DMC safety team ensured all safety measures were adhered to prior to the start of work. Our team had installed temporary hand rails and lighting at the hire rise towers. This was a union project and DMC had signed a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) with Local 25 (Heat and Frost Insulators).

More than 51% workers on this project were Detroit residents. DMC exceeded the requirements of Executive Order 22 applicable for this project.

  • (150,000 S.F.) Pre-Demolition Asbestos Abatement & Disposal for Building No. 13 located at 2643 Park, Detroit, MI. This was the famous Park Avenue Hotel. The building was constructed in 1924 and was 14 storied high and had 252 rooms. This building was imploded on July 11th, 2015.
  • (91,140 S.F.) Pre-Demolition Asbestos Abatement & Disposal for Building No. 20 located at 110 Sproat, Detroit, MI. This was the famous Eddystone Hotel. The building was constructed in 1924 and was 13 storied high and had 312 rooms. This building is being redeveloped.
