Huber Garage Improvements (Design-Build)

Description

The City of Detroit’s General Services Department (GSD) awarded DMC the contract of providing turnkey Design-Build solution for the parking lot and CCTV improvements at the Huber Garage Facility.

DMC was contracted for Design-Build services, partnering up with Fairway Engineering to provide a new parking lot with exterior improvements per GSD requirements. DMC/Fairway performed a site survey to determine the most effective design for the 12,000SF lot. After permitting, DMC began construction in the active facility, giving special consideration to not interfere with existing operations.

Work was performed during the COVID-19 pandemic, so DMC had to take special care and adjust work plans to abide by local protocols, while absorbing challenges in material procurement, price escalations, and manpower availability.
 

Scope Of Work

Design:

  • Provide final design plans for developing parking lot, storm sewers, and lighting
  • Permitting through BSEED & DWSD

Construction:

  • Demolition of Existing Fencing & Exterior Gate
  • Installation of Stormwater Drainage System incl. (2) Catch Basins
  • Installation of 12,000SF of Asphalt/21AA Base Installation
  • Site Restoration
  • Replacement of approx. 400 LF Ornamental Fencing
  • Parking Lot Striping
  • Electrical Utilities for (N) Installations
  • Exterior Lighting
  • Surveillance System
  • Replacement of (2) 14×14’ Overhead Doors
  • Installation of 14’ Motorized Commercial Gate
